WORK & CASE STUDIES

The Sauce Tool

An inventor came to us with a concept for a silicone brush that could be screwed onto the top of any bottle of sauce and then used to baste meats. He asked us to help make his idea more tangible by finding ways to reduce production costs and product complexity for his existing design.

The primary challenge was creating a design that could work with any sized bottle neck. The original concept given to us by the inventor used a set of washers that could be placed inside the brush to adjust the size of a bottle’s mouth. We wanted to avoid that inconvenience and extra production cost by designing a more efficient approach. What resulted was a design that featured a gradually narrowing mouth with levels like a staircase. This maximized the modularity of the product and minimized material requirements in adapting to fit the broadest range of sauce and condiment bottles.

We took it full circle and created a logo/brand landing space to match the inventor’s business model for licensing the product to large brands.
