The client sought to offer a line of car care cleaning accessories that could look like a family to enable a great presence at retail, would be sensitive to its environmental impact, easy to manufacture, provide solid functionality and reduce current cost by 12%.
This is one of those times that the process of life cycle assessment created the innovative design opportunities, while still utilizing inexpensive tooling. fredsparks created a design that used low cost tooling, provided ergonomically sound functionality, and even more importantly improved the environmental impact. This was chiefly accomplished with the effective use of recycled materials. The new product reduced the brushes carbon footprint by 67%
Most important for the client was our ability to exceed their cost goals. The final products came in 20+% below existing product, enabling them to reach their margin targets while offering a complete line of functional products, utilizing their brand colors to maximize their in-store strategy.
